I purchased a beautiful pygmy barberry for my landscaping last year. It was a beautiful maroon color when I bought it, but quickly turned to a medium green color. What can I do to restore the color it was? It does sit next to a rhododendron that I water with special fertilizer for acid loving plants.
Thank you!

I do not think the fertilizer is changing the color. Some of the red barberries simply hold the red better over the course of the summer than others. Also, they need to have full direct sun all day long to maximize the red. In too little sun they tend to turn greenish. I hope this helps you trouble shoot.
