| I have just purchased 2 large hanging fucshia plants. As soon as I got them home and hung them outdoors they began to wilt and droop. They are beautiful additions to my yard and I was wondering what I can do to keep them looking and feeling healthy? Thank you! |
| There are several possible circumstances that come to mind when a new plant droops. One is that it has been shocked by moving from the sheltered greenhouse to the outdoors. This can be caused by being exposed to more sun, or more wind, and/or colder temperatures all of a sudden. If the plant rode home in an open truck or trunk, that can also shock it badly. At this point I would suggest protecting it from wind and cold nights, water as needed to keep the soil evenly moist but not sopping wet, and make sure any excess water drains freely from the bottom of the container. Do not fertilize it yet, this will not help with a wilting problem. If it does not look better in a few days, you might want to check back with the retailer where you purchased it for more specific advice. |
