I live in Glassboro, New Jersey. Please suggest various bushes that grow to 3' or so that thrive in full sign for around the base of my front porch.

There are many plants you could use. To some extent it will depend on which way your porch faces (full sun could be east, west or south), whether or not it is windy, and also what the soil conditions are there. Among evergreens you could consider lower growing junipers, clipped yews, clipped hollies, boxwoods for example. Among deciduous plants you might look at the Spirea japonica cultivars, golden barberries, dwarf Weigela, or Viburnum opulus nanum. There are also many azaleas that would fall in that size range. Your local county extension and/or nursery staff may have additional or different suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of what you are trying to accomplish. Enjoy your plants!
