My son wants to buy me a Japanese Maple for Mothers Day. I live in Florida and wonder if it is too hot to plant one now. |
Spring and fall are the best times to transplant trees and shrubs because of cooler temperatures but you can plant in May in Florida as long as you keep the new tree watered regularly. Expect to see some wilting from stress as the roots become established, but the tree should perk up as it becomes accustomed to its new home. Water your new maple deeply once each week during the growing season and it should be just fine. |
