I have used a tiller to till the soil in my flower beds, but first I had to wet it before tilling it, can I use chopped oak leaves and compost to make my soil soft?

Rosario,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question as we are transitioning to a new Q&A system. I hope this reply is not too late to be of help.

You can add oak leaves but it may be best to mix in some nitrogen fertilizer with them and then wait a few weeks before planting to give them time to begin to decompose. Compost can be mixed in and requires no wait before planting.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
