| I bought a pom pom scotch pine yesterday and placed it at the back of my car. However, during transport, some trunks were scratched and I can see the fresh layers of it (like an open wound). What would I do to prevent bugs or germs from moving into the tender tissue that might later affect the growth of my scotch pine?. please advise. |
| The best thing you can do for your Scotch pine is to allow the wounds to callous over by themselves. Although there are "wound dressings" on the market, they tend to retard the healing process and can hold water against the bark, which can cause rot. I'd avoid using them. Instead, plant your pine tree, keeping soil and other debris out of the wounds as best you can. Then simply allow the tree to compartmentalize the damaged tissues and heal over the wound. There will be a scar, but after a few years you probably won't even notice it. |
