The Q&A Archives: lawn

Question: I would like to know how to have grass grow under a dogwood tree where there is lots of shade from other trees also...and what kind. Thanks

Answer: Betty,

I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question as we are transitioning to a new Q&A system. I hope this reply is not too late to be of help.

Grass doesn't kile to grow in the shade. Pruning trees above that dogwood just a little by thinning out some of their limbs to brighten the shade may help.

St. Augustine is the best grass for shady areas.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
