The Q&A Archives: summer container

Question: What type of container plant thrives in summer?

Answer: Practically any perennial and every annual can be grown in a container. If you want lots of color, you can plant two or three different plants in the same container. I like lobelia, impatiens, viola and ivy in a containr for shade; alyssum, border dahlias and zinnias for sunny containers. Let your imagination be your guide and choose plants that bloom in your favorite colors. Be sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy wet - plants in containers can dry out rather quickly in hot weather. Enjoy your new container garden!
