I recently received a very pretty plant/bush called bougainvillea. It has amazing pink blossoms. My question is this: how do I care for this type of plant, and can it be hung outdoors in a pot, or is it supposed to be planted in the ground? It bursts outof the container like it has long arms reaching out in all directions.

Bougainvillea is a tropical plant that should be planted
outside in the garden. I don't believe it would be happy
if left in a container. In setting out your plant dig a
hole twice as deep and twice as large as container. In the
bottom of hole put fully a foot of well rotted compost.
Some broken bricks can be added along with the compost.
Bougainvillea seem to do better with the addition of broken
bricks. Rather than pulling the plant out of container,
place container inthe hole and slit the sides of container
and cut away rim of container. Leave container with slit
side in the hole. The reason for this is to keep from
disturbing the roots any more than necessary.
