I live in New Hampshire. I have a plush green lawn which I am proud of. But I have been seeing brown spots appear over the last two weeks. Some are round some elongated. Is this from desease or do I have a pest problem and how do I treat it?

Brown spots such as you describe can be caused by chemical injury (too much fertilizer) or from dog urine. I'd rake out the damaged turf, scratch the soil lightly and then reseed. Cover the seeds with some peat moss to help hold in moisture and keep birds from feasting on the seeds. Keep the reseeded area moist and the grass should pop up within a week.
