Hi! I purchased some whirling butterfies to plant on a 2nd floor balcony planter box, that gets a fair amount of wind ( 12'x7 |
The problem in the heat is that they are still in their containers. Soil heats up and dries out quickly and the roots have no way to expand into cooler soil. Transplant them late in the day so they have a cooler evening to adjust, and if possible, provide them with a temporary shade structure from full sun as they adjust. Keep soil consistently moist for 2-3 weeks while they adjust. The conditions that a plant likes when it is established can be stressful for a young plant that has not developed an established root system. Good luck! |
