I want to plant ground cover on a full sun slope. I live in Castaic, CA and the soil is clay-like and compacted. I want to plant something that is low to the ground, grows fast, and does not flower. I dislike iceplant and red apple. Any suggestions?

Some ground-hugging choices include Ajuga (carpet bugle), Potentilla (Cinquefoil), Lysimachia nummularia, Fragaria (ornamental strawberry), Lamium (dead nettle), or Asarum (wild ginger). Once established, all are reasonably drought-tolerant. Enjoy your new landscape!
