The Q&A Archives: Need addn'l specs on Bitsy Daylily

Question: Hi,
I see for Stella D'Oro Dwarf Daylily that you give both folliage height and bloom height. For Bitsy Daylily you only provide height, but it does not specify if that is folliage, or overall including blooms. Would you please advise of specs for Bitsy?

Answer: The term ?dwarf?, as used among daylily fanciers, refers to small overall plant size (both foliage and flower stems), regardless of flowers, which may still be quite large. ?Miniature? refers to small flower size alone, though many of the miniature selections are also dwarf. How's that for clearing things up?? The Stella D'Oro 'Bitsy' daylily has flowers on short stems, which are held just at the top of the foliage. 'Bitsy' will grow 18" tall and wide, including the blooms.
