I have a Japanese Aralia, Fatsia Japonica that has grown outside in a large ceramic pot for the last 18 months. It's original location provided it with ~4 h morning sun (Zone 7). He has now been relocated but will receiving ~2 h morning sun and ~6 h of afternoon/evening sun (Zone 7). He is defined as to like |
Your Japanese Aralia will prefer to have morning sun and afternoon shade, or at least filtered afternoon sun. Full afternoon sun will burn the leaves of your plant and you'll begin to notice yellow, turning to brown, then gray areas of sunscald on your plant. Try finding a spot that provides shelter from mid- to late-afternoon sunshine and your plant will thank you. |
