I would like to try growing Longan in Fremont, the East Bay which has very mild climate. I wanted to grow Lychee, but I heard Longan is hardier. Do you know where I can buy a 5 gallon Longan in SF Bay Area? What do you think of my chance of success? Any condition I need to provide to enhance the probability of success? Thanks. |
Dimocarpus longan will grow in your gardening region and will flower profusely if it experiences three months of cold, but above-freezing weather. As for finding a source, I'm afraid I can't. However, you may try contacting the California Rare Fruit Growers (www.crfg.org). Perhaps they have a source. Best wishes with your new tree! |
