I would like to try growing Longan in Fremont, the East Bay which has very mild climate.

I wanted to grow Lychee, but I heard Longan is hardier.

Do you know where I can buy a 5 gallon Longan in SF Bay Area?

What do you think of my chance of success? Any condition I need to provide to enhance the probability of success?

Thanks.

Dimocarpus longan will grow in your gardening region and will flower profusely if it experiences three months of cold, but above-freezing weather. As for finding a source, I'm afraid I can't. However, you may try contacting the California Rare Fruit Growers (www.crfg.org). Perhaps they have a source. Best wishes with your new tree!
