When should I start my seeds for tomatoes and peppers?

In general seed for pepper should be sown 6-8 weeks before the last frost date for your area (contact your local extension agent, or weather bureau (or nearby gardener) for this date, usually occurs in mid-May for your area). Transplants are set out in the garden when the soil has thoroughly warmed in the spring. Tomato seed is also sown 6-8 wks. before the last frost date. Transplant when all danger of frost has passed.
