What can I do about my mission fig? (item #1494936815) I purchased a nice one a year ago as an anniversary present to my wife, Alice. We planted it in a sunny spot and followed the instructions. It did well last year and even had fruit. the plant is about four feet tall. The problem is that it is almost dead now. There seem to be some leave coming out of the base at the ground level but no buds or leaves on any of the branches.

What should I do?

Regards,

Andy

Although you may not have expected this, it would be fairly typical for figs being grown outdoors in your area, especially if you did not take special precautions for winter protection or bring it indoors for cool storage. (Your zip code places you in zone 6B. Most figs are reliably hardy without special measures only into zone 8.) Here are some care sheets about growing figs in colder climates such as yours that you may find helpful.

Good luck with your fig crop this summer.
