| I replanted my snowball tree and it is still dying. What kind of food should I give it to bring it back to life? I water it once a week, but it is shriviling up and it looks so miserable. What else can I do to save this tree? Even if it is not doing good now, can I still leave it in the same spot and see what happens next year. I am so confused on what to do, Please help! I do not want to loose this tree, I just got it about a month and a half ago, I would be hurt if I could not save it. Nicole |
| I'm sorry you are having trouble with your shrub. Since you have already transplanted it, I think it has been stressed by the planting and replanting. I would wait and give it some time to adapt to its new location -- ideally it is in full or partial sun with a well drained location that is not too wet (eg not in a low spot in your yard where water collects.) It can take several weeks for a plant to begin to settle in and stabilize, then it will begin to put out new growth. Also do not be tempted to fertilize it, this will not be helpful to a stressed plant. Based on your description I am not certain what has happened to it, but at this point it is possible you are overwatering it. Over and underwatering can both show as foliage symptoms. Your goal in watering is just to keep the soil slightly damp, not sopping wet or saturated. In the springtime the soil is usually quite damp without watering. To know if you need to water, pull aside the mulch and dig into the soil with your finger. If it is still damp, do not water yet. When you do water, water thoroughly so it soaks down into the soil to encourage deep rooting. You might also want to check with your county extension and/or check back with the retailer since it is a new plant, they may be able to help you trouble shoot. Good luck wiht your plant! |
