| MY PLANTATION BANANA LEAF FIG HAS NOT DONE VERY WELL THIS PAST SUMMER. WOULD PUTTING IT ON MY PATIO (NORTHEAST EXPOSURE IN DENVER) GIVE IT A BOOST? I MOVED IT FROM THE OREGON COAST LAST OCTOBER. IT SURVIVED BUT DIDN'T THRIVE (LOOKS UNHEALTHY AND IS DROPPING LOTS OF LEAVES SINCE MOVING IT TO THE PATIO). |
| Now that the weather has warmed up, I think your banana leaf fig will enjoy being outdoors in a spot protected from direct sunshine. I suspect the change in lighting, temperatures and humidity it experienced when you moved from one home to the other was enough to stress it out a bit. Then moving it from indoors to out, where light and humidity are different is probably what's causing it to shed some leaves. I'd spray the foliage off (in case there's dust) and inspect it for insects, then water thoroughly and feed it with a half-strength dilution of liquid fertilizer. If it doesn't perk up in a few weeks you might want to repot it in fresh potting soil and feed it once again. Hope it regains its health soon! |
