I have mold on the leaves and blooms of my African Violet. I haven't changed the location of my plant and I use a self watering pot. I use Schultz African Violet Plus each time I change the water in the pot, weekly. I don't see any insects on my plant. What am I doing wrong ? I have two plants and I treat them both the same, they are about two or three years old. The mold is only on one plant. |
Although with the self-watering pots you're effectively keeping water off the foliage, for some reason the crown of your plant has gotten wet and stayed too wet for too long. Excess humidity can do this, as can overcrowding which results in poor air circulation. I'd move the affected plant away from the healthy one and try to remove and discard all of the infected plant material. You may want to try using a fungicide (which will protect the healthy leaves but not cure the diseased ones). If the mold comes back after the above treatment, I'd suggest tossing the plant and replacing it with a healthy new one. Best wishes with your African violets! |
