For my birthday this year my daughter gave me a half barrel, and my husband gave me a fountian pump. Now I need to know how to put it together for a little peice heaven in my garden. Can you help me with step by step instructions?

You will need an electrical outlet with a ground fault interrupt (GFI) to plug the pump into. If it is a wooden barrel you may need to line it with a piece of plastic or use a pre-formed plastic liner for it to keep it from leaking. Fill it with water. Set the pump in the bottom of the barrel and plug it in. It will bubble water. Read the directions that came with the pump to see how to adjust the flow if you need it to pump less water or more water. Changing the depth of it so it is shallower will also increase the amount of water it pumps. You can set it on a cinder block for instance to raise it up a bit. You may also be able to add some flexible plastic tubing and a fancy water jet or little spitting frog or other ornamental fountain head if you like. It usually takes some experimenting to get it to burble the way you like best, also be prepared to get wet while you play around with it. Enjoy your pond!
