I am experiencing disease problems with tomatoes; what varieties will do best in deep south Texas ? |
First, you need to find another spot in the garden to grow next year's tomatoes. Sometimes disease pathogens can stay in the soil and reinfect crops. For your area, I'd suggest not only heat resistant varieties, but disease resistant varieties aswell. Burpee carries three of these: Heatwave II produces well, even in 100 degree temperatures, and is disease resistant. Supersteak is also vigorous and disease resistant. And Celebrity is both disease resistant and crack resistant. If you don't have a Burpee catalog, you can order toll-free at (800) 888-1447, or through the internet at http://www.burpee.com |
