The Q&A Archives: What can I plant along a stonewall?

Question: I have approximately 200 ft infront of a stonewall along the street that I would like to plant perennials. 1/3 of the area gets full sun; 1/3 partial sun and 1/3 mostly shade underneath 2 tall pine trees. This is on the street side of the wall and the State plows, sands and salts during the winter and it gets thrown up onto this area each winter. There are some Day lillies, small astilbe, and small bleeding hearts. What else could I plant in full sun that would survive the harsh treatment? I have tried Hosta and although they survive they never get very big. Thank you.
