| My trees are about 3years old,I notice that a few of the leaves are turning yellow. We have been having a lot of rain and not much sun.I have fertilized them and they have been sprayed. I'm not sure what is happening, can you please give me some insight on this. I would also like to thankyou for this great web sight to solve all of my problems, I use it all time. |

Yellow leaves can be caused by many things including lack of nitrogen, insufficient light, water-logged soil (plant roots need oxygen to thrive), dry soil, or iron deficiency. If the older bottom leaves are yellow, but new growth is green, it's usually a lack of nitrogen. If new leaves are yellow, with green veins, it's usually a lack of iron. (Lack of nitrogen is a more common problem than lack of iron.) Soil should be kept moderately moist (but not wet). Try to isolate each of these possibilities one at a time to determine the problem. I would think that the excessive rain and lack of sun might be the issue, especially if it's only happening to a few leaves and the rest of the tree appears healthy. Finally, FYI, transplant shock can contribute to yellowing. If new growth shows up as green, that might be the problem, although not in this case since the trees are 3 years old. |
