Hi- We live on Long Island, NY and are interested in escallonia. I have some questions:
Will the bush thrive in this area?
Do you know where we can purchase it and about how much are they?
If escallonia is not a good idea in our area- can you recommend a similar flowering bush that would be appropriate?

Thanks so much. Your web site is wonderful!

Regards,

Escallonia would not be reliably winter hardy in your area -- you are in winter hardiness zone 6. I would suggest you consult with your local professional nursery staff and/or county extension to analyze the growing conditions where you want to plant something, then determine which plants would thrive there and meet your design goals, then select the one you like best from those. Good luck with your planting!
