Your zip code places you in a nominal winter hardiness zone 5B. Depending on your microclimate you may be gardening in a slightly warmer or colder situation, the zones are only meant to be a general guide. So you may be able to grow a Kwanzan cherry. Your local professional nursery staff and/or county extension should be able to analyze the growing conditions where you want to plant a tree and suggest trees that will thrive there. In the meantime, here is some information about the Kwanzan cherry that you may find helpful. You may need to cut and paste the complete url into your browser to make it work correctly.
