How do I know when to trim back my shrubbery, such as Snow Mound, Forsythia, Yellow broom and Hydrangea? I don't want them to grow out of control.

The easiest way to keep shrubs under control is to wait until after flowering has finished, then prune immediately so the plant has the rest of the summer to produce next year's flower buds.
