I have a Picea Montgomery. It is a little uneven. Can I trim it, and if so, how, and when. I'm told it will

This tree does not usually need pruning and grows extremely slowly so I would be cautious about trimming it unless something is badly out of balance. Like other spruces, a light touch up on the new growth can be done in June but trimming into old wood will result in a bare spot that will not grow back. Here is a bit more information about it you may find interesting.
