The Q&A Archives: Fat Albert Colorado Blue Spruce OPEN Pruning question

Question: I planted several of your 4 to 5 foot tall Fat Albert Colorado Blue Spruce trees last year. I have noticed that they have alot of new growth on the upper 3/4 of the trees but the bottom 1/4 does not have hardly any new growth. The trees look kind of funny being fatter in the middle than both the top & bottom. Should I prune the middle section to make it look more like a Christmas tree shape? If I should prune how much can I remove.

Will the lower portion catch up with the middle if left alone?

Please advise.

Thank you.
