Peonies are long-lived, but slow-growing. Garden peonies will usually begin blooming within three years after planting. Tree peonies will begin blooming at about the same time, but will increase slowly in size and bloom quantity. I cannot estimate the amount of growth your tree peony might make. While they are slow growing, they can live for up to a hundred years.

Growth is concentrated during the spring and summer months; as the weather cools, growth slows and eventually stops.
