| I LIVE IN ZONE 7 ,AND HAVE A LISBON LEMON TREE GROWING INDOORS.IT HAS BLOOMED AND IS PRODUCING FRUIT NICELY.MY QUESTION IS,WILL THE FRUIT RIPEN INDOORS? IT IS IN A BAY WINDOW AND RECEIVES THE MORNING SUN.IT HAS DONE WELL,BUT SHOULD I MOVE IT OUTDOORS FOR SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL?THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. |
| Citrus trees can go outdoors during the summer months but the change in light intensity and temperature may cause some of the leaves to drop. Since your tree is doing so well indoors, I'd keep it right where it is and continue to give it excellent care. The fruit will ripen indoors. It seems to take forever for lemons to ripen, but eventually they do. It's important to wait for the skin to turn from green to yellow because unlike other citrus, lemons will not ripen off the tree. The Lisbon is harvested from October to August so you may have a few more months of waiting before the fruit is ripe. Lisbon has a medium-size, elliptical shape, with a deep yellow, smooth rind that is somewhat fleshy. The flesh is pale yellow, seedless, and is composed of twelve segments. Enjoy your lemons! |
