Black Magnolia should grow well in your southern California garden. I can't tell you for sure which retailer might have the tree in stock at this time - retailers order independently and I have no way of tracking their stock. But phone one of the following nurseries. If they don't have the tree in stock they may be able to special order one for you:
H & H NURSERY-LAKEWOOD
6220 LAKEWOOD BLVD.
LAKEWOOD, CA 90712
(562) 804-2513

ARMSTRONG #705 LONG BEACH
3842 E. 10TH ST.
LONG BEACH, CA 90804
(562) 433-7413

HAPGOOD LANDSCAPING
6110 YEARLING ST.
LAKEWOOD, CA 90713
(562) 867-3594

ARMSTRONG #731 ARTESIA
11540 E. ARTESIA BLVD.
ARTESIA, CA 90701
(562) 865-2416
