I have a beautiful Monrovia Pampas grass. I was told by a friend I should cut down my pampas grass. I did, and now it is not growing well. Some blades are coming up around the outside of last years growth. Is there anything I can do to salvage the plant?

According to your zip code, you are gardening in zone 6. The Ivory Feathers pampas grass is only hardy to zone 7. So it would not really be expected to overwinter for you. This explains why it is not coming back very well -- it is good that it survived at all. You might want to plant one of the hardier grasses if you want to keep it from year to year. Your local professional nursery staff should be able to show you a selection. And yes, the hardy grasses are trimmed back in either late fall or early spring each year.
