I opened a bag of mulch to find a lot of centipedes running around in it. Should I or should I not use the mulch in my new flower garden?

Centipedes usually feed on decaying organic matter so I would not expect them to hurt your plants out in the garden. You could open it in the street and let them crawl out, then use the mulch.
