| I've tried twice now to grow coleus from seed with no success. I used a seeding mix that I make myself with 1/3 Peat Moss, 1/3 Sand, 1/3 Organic Humus. They were put in full sun and watered daily but not too much. What's up with this? I have luck with everything else I planted and used seeds from diferent packs each time. |
| Coleus seeds are very tiny and are sometimes coated with clay for easy handling. They require light to germinate so perhaps you've been sowing too deeply in the seed starting mix. Sow the seeds on the surface of the moistened potting mix and then cover the trays or pots with plastic wrap to help hold in soil. Place them in a bright place, but not in direct sunshine. The seeds should germinate in 10-20 days when kept between 65-75 degrees. As soon as most of the seeds sprout, remove the plastic wrap (to avoid damping off). Try one more time - I'm sure you'll be successful. |
