This plant is 8 years old, and has been very hardy. This Spring, 2 main shoots died. What came up, was a new sprout, and it is now budded, but, the flowers are much smaller, paler, and the outside edges of all of the petals are a creamy yellow/white. Do you have any ideas that would cause this? Thank you for your help. |
It is possible that your clematis was grafted. When the main stems died back, the root stock then began to grow. So the flower is that of the root stock, not the grafted top. Or, whatever stress contributed to the dieback may be causing other reactions in the plant as well. I'm really sorry about your clematis. |
