| Can you plant several different kinds of raspberries together in one area? |
| There shouldn't be a problem at all with planting different raspberry varieties. As a matter of fact, you can increase your yield by planting varieties from both the Everbearing family and the Standard family. Some everbearing raspberries include 'Goldie' and the ever popular 'Heritage'. I like the everbearer called 'Fall Red' also. Some standards include 'Taylor', 'Cumberland', and 'Nova'. Everbearing varieties bear the first year, in fall, at thetips of the canes. If you want a second crop, cut off the tips after harvest; the following season they will bear on the uncut portion in early summer. Then cut back the whole cane when it finishes fruiting. This will result in more berries in each crop but they will be smaller. If you prefer one big large crop with bigger berries, cut all the canes back to the ground after your fall harvest. |
