The Bamboo Orchid is Arundina graminifolia. The name Bamboo Orchid tells it all. It grows like a miniature stand of Bamboo and can be grown quite easily in the ground or in containers where it will form into large clumps.

Bamboo Orchid root cuttings can be planted in any moist potting soil; bury the roots, but leave the green growth exposed. Bamboo orchids should be kept fairly moist. Your plant may be kept outdoors in full sunlight during summer, but bring it inside when fall arrives. It will only survive a minimum temperature of 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a liquid fertilizer once a month (Miracle-Gro, Peter's, etc.) Your bamboo Orchid Plant will grow to heights of 5 feet. The flowers are lavender with a yellow throat and lavender lips.
