Annette,

First destroy any perennials weeds and other grasses that might be in the area. One way is to spray the area with a product containing glyphosate (Roundup is one brand). Then wait a week for it to move down into the weed plants. Then rototill lightly (just go down a couple of inches) and wait another week. Wait another week to give the herbicide time to break down or tie up in the soil and you can lay the sod with no harmful effects from the herbicide spray.

Water daily to keep the sod moist for a week or so. Then gradually back off the frequency over a period of about 3 weeks until you are only watering every 5-7 days.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
