I think the difference in the leaf color is the exposure to sunshine. If the willow was growing in full sun at the nursery and you put it in a partially shady area in your own garden, the plant will have to adjust to the lower light levels. During this adjustment period the foliage may not have the bright pink color that it is capable of developing. If you put it in full sun, the color will deepen. If you have your heart set on planting it in a partially shady area, by all means plant it there - just be prepared to wait for it to adjust. Eventually it will and you'll be rewarded with the tri-colored foliage. Best wishes with your dappled willow! |
