We have a new yard grass(San Augustine)laid in January 2005. The yard seems to have spiders appx. the size of a finger tip. They are brown with no real markings. Our grass has patches of dark green wilted areas and also completely dead brown areas. I have fertilized. I have put insect repellent. Now I just water and pray.

Melissa,

The spiders are definitely not the problem. You really need someone to look at a sample of your turf. It could be chinch bugs, Take All patch, or some other problem such as a poorly functioning irrigation system (not even distribution). Your local Extension Office would be a good place to start for dependable, free advice:

Harris County Extension Office
3033 Bear Creek Drive, Houston, TX 77084-4233
281-855-5600
