I have a weeping larch shrub in my yard.It is thin in the middle. Would pruning the ends cause the shrub to thicken up its growth in the middle?

I think what you are seeing may be part of the normal development of this plant. As the tree ages it takes on a more interesting and deformed look with growth concentrated at the ends of the branches and a bare center trunk. Larix decidua 'Pendula' is known for its unique sculptural look. Pruning the tips of the branches would not change that overall habit.
