I would like to use the 5 gal. P. Gracilior to screen a freeway on ramp that runs right behind my property. I believe my property is about 50 feet wide. How many trees would I need and how far apart should I plant them to create a nice dense screen as fast as possible?

Under ideal growing conditions, Podocarpus gracilior will grow about 20' wide. Under normal landscape conditions, I'd expect them to grow 12-15' wide. Since you want a dense screen, plant them 8 - 10' apart. The branches will grow together and develop into a terrific privacy screen.
