I am interested in specifying the California Pepper Tree for an urban landscape. What are the advantages/disadvantages of this plant?

California Pepper Tree (Schinus molle L.) grows only in USDA zones 9-10. It wouldn't survive your winters in Illinois. Aside from the dropping berries, pepper trees are relatively well behaved.
