Mediterranean shrubs/trees - Knowledgebase Question

Please recommend a shrub or tree that can form the background/foundation for a Mediterranean style landscape design (full sun and includes rosemary, lavender, rock rose, etc.) that will grow to approximately 12 feet tall.

Bougainvillea, Oleander, Pomegranite, Leonotis, Cytisus, Myrtle and Myoporum are all good shrubs for background to your garden.
