While some plants repel mosquitos from their own foliage, none really clear the area of mosquitos as is often claimed. Citronella candles and other similar burned devices can repel them somewhat if you use enough in a given area. The best options are to avoid being outside during the late afternoon hours when they tend to be out the most. When you need to be outside use a dependable skin repellent. The standard ingredient has been DEET but now some other alternatives are also available.
