We have blackberry bush. We also have one that looks like it but the berry is orange. Do you know what this kind of fruit is? Thanks diane |
I think what you've found is a Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis). It's common in the Pacific Northwest. The flavor of the berries has been described by some as sweet and juicy - somewhat like raspberries. Others find them to have no flavor at all. The berries are delicate and will turn mushy if you're not careful when harvesting. Native Americans consumed the berries fresh, or died them to save for future use. |
