Most people prefer to keep it to a smaller size with vigorous annual pruning in the spring, this causes it to be multistemmed and dense like a bush. If you allow it to grow toward its natural 15 to 20 foot height you may be able to maintain it with just a few main stems or trunks by careful (and regular) pruning. Enjoy your dappled willow!
