The Q&A Archives: Are mimosa seeds edible?

Question: Recently I was at an open air market and discovered a produce vendor selling what looked to be mimosa seed pods. Out of curiosity I asked him what they were and the only thing he said, and I quote

Answer: Raina,

I doubt that those were Mimosa. I could not find references indication mimosa is toxic but the seeds are hard and I've never heard of anyone trying to eat them. The pods must have been from some other plant.
