I have a mimosa. it is about 15 years old. It is splitting at the branches and the trunk and there is what looks like black sap coming out. It is also covered with ants. What is going on?

Unfortunately, it sounds like your tree may be in serious trouble. I would suggest you consult with a professionally trained and certified arborist with experience in residential trees to obtain a specific diagnosis on site and determine whether or not the tree can be saved or if it might be better to remove it -- a tree that is splitting may have extensive internal weaknesses and be subject to breakage. I'm really sorry about your tree.
